Who didn’t see this coming?
Trump is going to drain the swamp using snakes as his subcontractors.
Per the LA Times
Steven Mnuchin, 53, a wealthy Wall Street executive and successful film financier who served as the national finance chairman of Trump’s campaign, is widely considered one of the leading contenders to become the next Treasury secretary
There are two other people named in the article, one of whom is Jamie f****king Dimon (though he has said he wont work for Trump).
And what do you suppose the reaction of Trump’s “economically insecure” white working class voters will be to this news? I am guessing they’ll either cheer or shrug. Because they don’t really care.
Donald Trump didn’t run against Wall Street. He didn’t run against the banksters. He ran on giving them huge tax cuts.
Mnuchin, chief executive of New York-based hedge fund Dune Capital Management, spent 17 years early in his career at Goldman Sachs, where he was a partner and eventually chief information officer, before leaving in 2002. He then started an investment fund with billionaire investor George Soros, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter, before co-founding Dune. Mnuchin, along with other investors, made a windfall after purchasing the failed bank IndyMac in 2009 in the wake of the financial crisis, and selling it for a substantial profit in 2015.
Read that whole paragraph. Every single sentence undercuts the entirety of the argument that a progressive economic populist could have won where Hillary Clinton could not. Hedge Fund, Goldman Sachs, George Soros… This is literally someone who profited from the financial collapse that decimated the working class.
He (or someone just like him) going to be put in charge of the US Treasury because that’s what Wall Street wants. That’s not economic populism. That’s not the will of the white working class. But that’s what those people voted for.
